This morning's selection...I absolutely love Suzanne Vega and the way her lyrics take these weird little twists and turns, especially in songs like The Queen and the Soldier. And yes, the chorus to this song is my YIM available message... Now, if you'll excuse, time for coffee and papers. Love and Cheers, Kai
Suzanne is awesome. I love her music, her personality, her eclectic background, the fact that she's a fellow New Yorker, the fact that she went to my college's sister school. I only have "Solitude Standing", but back in the day my roommate played the followup to death as well ("Book of Dreams"?). And of course that whole cute Tom's Diner/DNA thing. I saw her at the Beacon Theater in NY back in 1990...great show. She cracked the cutest jokes and sang beautifully. And I totally identify with the lyrics, both politically and socially.
I've been digging Suzanne lately. I've been listening to her album 99.9 a lot lately. I used to love the song "In Liverpool" and just recently listened to the whole album. It's just beautiful.
"Except for the boy in the belfry he's crazy/he's throwing himself down from the top of the tower"...(that was me singing along, in case you didn't know :-)) I've always loved "I'll Never Be Your Maggie May" as well
